Abby’s Legacy Foundation 2024 Mid-Year Impact Report

We are excited to share the incredible impact your donations and support have made in the first six months of 2024.

Organizational Milestone

In January, Abby’s Legacy Foundation proudly finalized its official 501(c)(3) status. We launched our first fundraising campaign, raising over $11,000 and spreading love with over 70 heart bracelets. ❤️

These funds and continued donations are instrumental in our mission to support childhood cancer patients and their families through research funding, care, support, and love.

Our Impact

Local Support

We have been able to directly support families affected by childhood cancer that are in need, providing essential financial assistance during incredibly challenging times:

• Mobility Aid: We provided a motorized recliner ($630) to a teen patient losing mobility due to treatment, allowing them to spend time out of bed with their family.

• Rent Assistance: We paid $1,317 in rent for a newly bereaved mother who was at risk of eviction due to the extended end-of-life care for her child.

• Travel Support: We assisted a family with $2,000 to cover travel expenses for their child's cancer treatment, including immediate food costs, family fun and help support their housing & utilities while away from home.

• Utility and Rent Support: We prevented electricity disconnection for one family and paid other utility bills and rent for another, totaling $510, $775, and $1,875, respectively.

Regional Initiatives

• BRASS Camp Support: We are working on funding special activities for over 70 childhood cancer siblings at BRASS Camp, including ice cream treat trucks, waterpark day, inflatables, and tents. (see below what is needed to meet our $3,950 total)

• Camp Fantastic: We donated $5,000 (in late 2023) to create a Zen Den at Camp Fantastic, a week-long camp for children with cancer, in memory of Abby’s love for the camp's hangout space. 

• CHKD: We donated $500 to support the local high school's fundraising efforts for the Love Run, honoring Abby & other local families.

• Family Overnight Experience: We supported 45 families with a $5,000 donation to cover dinner expenses during a childhood cancer family overnight FUN event hosted by Our Amazing Fighters.

National Contributions

• St. Baldrick’s Foundation: We donated $500 in honor of CHKD Nurse Rob shaving his beard and eyebrows to support childhood cancer research. We also supported Princess Anne Middle School’s St. Baldrick’s carnival, which raised over $19,700 for research.

• Wrapped in Strength Project: We partnered with Wrapped In Strength Project, founded in memory of the incredible Derick, allowing them to continue their support of childhood cancer patients nationwide through personalized towels. (Yearly fiscal sponsorship of $1,000)

Looking Ahead

• Future Events: Mark your calendars for Abby’s 18th Birthday Wish List and the 3rd Annual Abby Furco Memorial Color Run, tentatively scheduled for October 20, 2024. Sign up and event sponsorships soon!

• Monthly Giving Opportunity: Are you able to add ALF to your monthly giving? Join our “Campfire Circle” monthly giving program. General Giving

Your continued support allows us to serve childhood cancer patients and their families. 

We are currently seeking funds for ice cream/shave ice trucks ($1200) for BRASS Camp, camp starts July 21! We have funded the waterpark day & lunch, day of inflatables, and out-post camping tents! Thank you!!
